Self-care during pregnancy - Prenatal Yoga, hydration and pampering and more

Michelle, our co-owner, talks us through her self-care tips. This is how she decided to look after herself in Pregnancy, but something we advocate in our Prenatal yoga class Glasgow is to listen to your own body and to do only what you feel comfortable doing. Our prenatal yoga classes take place weekly on Sundays 5-6pm.

Move  - Prenatal Yoga Glasgow

Movement is important to me in pregnancy. It helps with pregnancy discomfort and lifts fatigue. Prenatal Yoga is a wonderful way for me to connect with my baby, rejuvenate, nurture my body and to feel strong too.  Pre-natal strength training helps me to feel strong, empowered and revitalised.

Both above practices are also fabulous ways to prepare for labour, along with practicing how to engage  & relax my pelvic floor. I love to mix movement up, depending on how I feel. Sometimes a gentle walk to  nursery with my son is enough.

Bathe in Candlelight

Some days I just want to rest and restore my body. I find lying in a candlelit bath relaxing and comforting.

I like to connect with my baby wherever possible, there is another blog post on Establishing a bond with your baby with more tips.

Hydrate

My pregnant body is working hard to grow a new human and there is lots of extra blood, fluids, waste to  dispose of and more. I like to make sure I stay hydrated with water throughout the day.

Eat Well

Again, my body is doing the important job of growing a human and its essential that I eat well and take  my supplements. This is important as I have been advised Iā€™m border line anaemic. I was also anaemic  with my first child. I also like to strike a balance and if my body asks for chocolate, I honour that.

Pedicure

Our feet work hard at the best of times and even more so in pregnancy. They are an area of our body that we often forget to nurture and care for. This feels like the ultimate act of self-care for me.
