Beginners Yoga
Our complete Beginners class is suitable for those who are new to yoga, or for anyone who has had a break from practicing. An introduction is given to mindfulness, breathing techniques and foundational yoga poses.
The class ends with a guided meditation. This class helps complete beginners to build confidence in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Alignment, breath, flow and focus. This class is revitalising and cleansing. We connect with our bodies and breath in a sequence of movements which build heat and unlock blocked energy centres. The continual flowing movements of vinyasa help stretch and elongate our muscles while they are being strengthened, allowing greater flexibility and range of motion.
Suitable for all levels of experience although we do recommend attending our beginners course if you have never tried yoga before. We will work on building strong foundations for practice. A wide range of postures are taught to develop strength, stamina, flexibility and offering plenty of challenges for improvers too. You are encouraged to try different variations which suit you and to work at your own pace. You don’t need to be really strong or flexible to attend this class! Curiosity and interest in the practice is essential!
Yin Yoga
A slow, meditative class, that gently stretches the deeper muscles, joints and fascia in your body and helps quieten the mind. In Eastern traditions, Yin is a compliment to Yang. Yin yoga compliments a more dynamic yoga practice because it can add new qualities. Softening, letting go, backing off and allowing the breath to still the mind are all gifts of a yin practice. Time, as duration, is an important aspect of the practice, allowing your body release to gravity and be carried through by the slowing breath.
By switching on the parasympathetic nervous system, this practice helps reverse the effects of stress and cultivates a sense of equanimity and relaxation. The class will take you through a series of poses that are held for a substantial period of time (3–5 mins). All poses have modifications, so this class is suited to all levels and ages. Since poses are mostly floor-based, bring warmer clothes and socks.
Yin + Yoga Nidra
A slow, meditative class, that gently stretches the deeper muscles, joints and fascia in your body and helps quieten the mind. In Eastern traditions, Yin is a compliment to Yang.
The classes closes with a Yoga Nidra Practice. Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium – the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.
Restorative Yoga
This class is ideal for people who have high stress lives and suffer from back pain or those who just seek to enjoy some deep relaxation. It’s about slowing down and opening the body through passive stretching. During these long holds, your muscles relax deeply. It’s a completely different feeling from other types of yoga classes since props are used to support your body instead of your muscles.
Gentle Yoga
This class moves at a slow pace and is very focused on moving with awareness. It will take you through a sequence of exercises which release the joints and bring increased flexibility. Yoga is a form of exercise that adapts to your needs and abilities.
It makes your body fitter, the mind calmer and relaxes you. If you’re feeling stiff or have back pain this class will help get you moving with ease again. This class is great for beginners or people who prefer a slower paced yoga practice. Perfect for (but not just for) beginners.
Pilates
Pilates mat classes focus on developing core strength, flexibility, balance and stamina. The instructor presents the exercises at multiple levels which allows students to choose to work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced pace. Students learn to be aware of breathing patterns and spinal alignment while engaging the deep muscles of the core. No previous Pilates experience is necessary to join a mat class.
Core Flow Yoga
A vinyasa style yoga class focusing on supporting and strengthening the core. This will be a dynamic class with a strong emphasis towards endurance building, focused core and back strengthening postures, all combined with traditional vinyasa flow.
Pregnancy Yoga
This class is for both expectant pregnant people with no experience of yoga, and pregnant yogis wanting to modify their practice and allow for the changes occuring in their body. We will focus on empowerment and everything that you can do, connection to yourself and your baby, while working closely with your energy and emotional state. Expect a mixture of suitable movement, strength, and stability work so you can feel strong and confident, along with meditation, relaxation, and optimal breath awareness.
Whether you are looking to support a more comfortable pregnancy, hoping to prepare for and improve labour, or keep moving and strengthening through your term, you are welcome here. Feel free to stay around for a chat and a tea after and connect with other pregnant people. You can start joining this class anytime after your first trimester and can continue joining up until birth. Please note our introductory offer is not valid for this. This class costs £55 for 5 classes or £14 for one class.
