Class descriptions

Pilates

  • Pilates mat classes focus on developing core strength, flexibility, balance and stamina. The instructor presents the exercises at multiple levels which allows students to choose to work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced pace. Students learn to be aware of breathing patterns and spinal alignment while engaging the deep muscles of the core. No previous Pilates experience is necessary to join a mat class.

 FAQs

  • Pilates is a movement practice that improves mind-body connection, strength, balance and posture. Pilates is beloved for many reasons but it’s low impact and intelligent approach means that it’s perfect for people of all abilities. No prior experience is required to come along to a pilates class.

  • Mat pilates will typically use your body weight as resistance (or some props like magic circles or pilates balls). The reformer machine offers increased resistance with springs and straps/pulleys (and sometimes weights).

Mat pilates is different to reformer but if you like mat pilates you’ll probably enjoy reformer too. You can find out more about reformer pilates and pricing here.

  • We open our studio no more than 15 minutes before class begins. We recommend coming along 10 minutes early if you’ve never been before to make sure you have enough time to find us, park, walk in etc.

Please note, we lock our doors on time when we begin class. This ensures students belongings are secure, that we have adequate time for a warm up and that we don’t compromise the beginning and finish times (and potential subsequent roll on affect) of our schedule. We do not admit anyone after class starts for these reasons. We also understand that life can happen and do try to balance small business life with compassion.

Please contact us at info@studio70glasgow.com if you have any questions or need any support.

  • Please wear comfortable clothing you feel good moving in. We have mat hire if you don’t have your own for £1 per class. You can bring a coin or purchase ahead in the Momence app.

Please also bring a water bottle, you can fill it up when you get here if you like.

  • All of our Pilates classes are mixed abilities for all bodies.

If you are wanting to start more slowly we recommend our 4 week beginners course. These run back to back most of the year except for a wee break in Summer. You can find out more about upcoming dates here.

  • Our beginners courses run every 4 weeks, you can find the next intake here.

  • Yes, we offer memberships for mat classes. Mat classes are all yoga and mat pilates classes. This does not include reformer pilates.

You can find out more about our memberships here.

  • All class cancellations require 12 hours notice. Any cancellations made within this period will forfeit their class.

We recommend managing bookings via the Momence app for ease. Bookings cancelled after 12 hours will credit back to your account to use for another class.

For any equiries please email us at info@studio70glasgow.com

  • If a class is full we still recommend booking onto the waitlist. If a space opens up you’ll automatically be added to the class up to 2 hours before the class begins.
